What is your function at Henkel and how does your day-to-day work look like?
Six months ago I rotated to a completely different department and role at Dial.  I’m now a Senior Compensation Analyst, yet another milestone in my career at Dial. My function includes supporting the generalists for Dial, conducting job evaluations, market pricing, approving offers and basically assisting the generalists by providing them a resource for compensation for employees.  Additionally, I provide high-level compensation analysis for Dial and other Henkel North America businesses. I also complete salary surveys and study the labor markets to determine compensation trends. We participate in about 30 surveys of those which are falling in my arena of responsibility. It is my task to compile data to meet the actual surveys and then upload them to a system that we have.  What I enjoy most of my role is conducting job evaluations.  It gives me a better perspective of our organization as a whole.

Did you have personal responsibility from the first day on?
Our compensation team consists of four professionals of which we all have personal responsibility.  Not one person is a lead – we are all compensation leaders for our client groups. The way we split our roles is that each of us is supporting a certain business unit or Henkel business. The responsibility that we each have is being the lead compensation person for our specific businesses.  I view our team as the compensation experts and resource for our generalists.

For which projects did you work for in the past?
A few years ago we rolled out Domestic Partner Benefits. I had the opportunity to work on this project from conducting the analysis and then presenting it to our senior management. It was very interesting because it was a new benefit that we were not sure how it would be received in the company.  It was challenging for me to do something totally different and seeing it be successful. I recently took the lead in kicking off an affinity group, which is the Hispanic Professional Society.  We just rolled it out this year.  Affinity groups are similar to employee support groups responsible for diversity efforts. Our goal is to launch more efforts within the community that we serve and promoting the Henkel name.
