Sustainability audit in Hulda-Pankok comprehensive school
As part of the "School Check: Sustainability 2001" project, students and teachers at the Hulda-Pankok comprehensive school in Düsseldorf audited environmental compatibility, operating costs, social aspects and learning conditions in their school. The school's 40-page sustainability report contains information on the background and execution of the audit, the results, and the targets and actions derived from these results. The "School Check" project was presented on November 7, 2002. The students described a number of projects, including one for the integration of disabled children, and "Lucky Tree," the student company for environmentally friendly office materials. In addition, a "School Check" site was made accessible on the Internet.
The "Schul-Check" project is part of a national model project named "education for sustainable development", which was launched by the national commission for education planning and the promotion of research. In this context, Henkel is helping four Düsseldorf schools to carry out systematic self-audits and produce sustainability reports. The objective of these activities is to impart social and ecological knowledge and raise student awareness of the subject of sustainability..
