Sustainability in vocational training
For over 75 years, Henkel has been training young people in various vocations and thus actively embracing social responsibility. Anchored in the training programs are topics relating to the protection of mankind and the environment. In the Chemistry Instructors Competition 2000 organized by the German Confederation of Employers and the IG BCE union, Henkel's exemplary role was honored with second place.
This distinction was conferred on the basis of the Company's intensive training in health protection, occupational safety and environmental protection matters. Special mention was given to the fact that the instructors are living examples of what they teach, the integrative implementation of Responsible Care throughout the entire training period, as well as cross-vocational projects.
In addition to purely imparting knowledge, Henkel has always focused on raising awareness and encouraging young people to assume responsibility.
This is the motivation behind a current project organized by the Düsseldorf instructors: “Right-wing extremism: A transitory danger or a threat to democracy?“ In cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, a series of four lectures was arranged during which more than 250 apprentices discussed with top-flight speakers about social integration and ways of overcoming xenophobia.
