Frequently Asked Questions

1. What's the shelf life of Tangit adhesives?

Please refer to the respective technical data sheet for information on the product's shelf life.
Canned adhesives usually have a minimum shelf life of 24 months. Tubed adhesives are expected to have a shelf life of 12 months.

2. Where do I find the date of filling and the batch number?

Depending on the product, you can find this information laterally on the edge of the can, in special cases also at the bottom of the can, on the tube end closure or on the folding box.

3. Can I thin a dried-up adhesive by using a cleaner or a solvent?

This must not be done in any case. The adhesive contains a special combination of solvents. Gelled adhesive is no longer usable!

4. How can I check the quality of the adhesive?

Before use, the adhesive must always be stirred. If the quality is OK, the adhesive flows off the paint brush by forming a trail. Otherwise the adhesive must no longer be used (see the Tangit "Instructions for Use").

5. How resistant is Tangit adhesive to chemicals?

As a rule, Tangit adhesives are as resistant to chemicals as the respective pipe materials. Exceptions can be found particularly in the range of concentrated inorganic acids.
For further information please refer to our technical data sheets, the information issued by the pipe and fitting manufacturers as well as the relevant tables of the DECHEMA (Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology).

6. Can I bond polypropylene or polyethylene pipes with Tangit adhesive?

No! Polyolefins belong to a group of plastics that is only difficultly bondable. They are preferably bonded with the help of welding techniques. For waste water applications (sewer pipes) plug-in connections are used.
