FAQ
1. Is it possible to play alone?
No, it’s not possible to play alone. In this fifth edition of the Henkel Innovation Challenge, you can only participate as a tandem of 2 students.
2. One of our team members is enrolled at a different university. Can we participate?
Yes. The team members can be from different universities.
3. Can I participate in more than one team?
No, you can just be a member of one team.
4. I did not take marketing / management classes during my studies. Can I participate?
Sure. The game is open to all students within a participating country. Chemistry and engineering students are encouraged to participate as well. Participating countries for 2011: Austria, Belgium, China, Croatia, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, North America, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Vietnam. Other regions are setting it up.
5. I am an exchange student and I will change to another country. Can I participate?
Exchange students can participate for the countries listed above if they and their tandemmates study in the country during the time of the final (until February 2012).
6. Is the website the only channel to apply? Can I apply via e-mail/ via post?
All applications are accepted via www.henkelchallenge.com or www.facebook.com/henkelchallenge. You are only one click away from participating in the Henkel Innovation Challenge 5.
7. What happens if one tandem member quits during the game?
The tandem members can be changed latest by the 1st round project submission date December 12, 2011. The reason of change and the details of the new team member need to be communicated immediately to the corresponding HR country contact.
8. Which sources of information can I use for my document, video, ppt and photos?
You can use all sources considered reliable, e.g. online resources, reports, interviews, etc.
9. What are the rules for round 1?
In order to participate, you should build up a tandem of 2 students, upload the innovation document and CVs from each tandem member. All questions regarding your vision of 2030 and resulting product needs as well as your innovative idea for a Henkel brand and your motivation need to be answered in English. It is not mandatory though to upload further material - but always welcome.
10. What are the accepted formats for additional videos and photos?
Accepted formats for videos are Quicktime (.mov), Windows Media Video (.wmv), Flash Video (.flv) or Audio Video Interleaved (.avi) with a max. file size of 10MB. For photos we accept jpg and gif formats. If you have any questions regarding the accepted formats and sizes please contact your country HR via the link "Contacts". Remember that we do not expect anything professional if you attach further designs or pictures. It´s all about an innovative idea and a good concept behind!
11. Can I make it to the finals if I hand in only the innovation document, CV and my motivation?
Of course. Your innovation concept should be well structured and in line with your vision of 2030. As long as your concept is logical and understandable in written form, there is no need for further materials. All you need to hand in are completely answered documents and your CVs. Any additional support to clarify and outline your creative ideas are welcome, but not neccessary.
12. I am an intern at Henkel. Can I participate in the game?
Yes, you can participate. Take your collegue and build up a tandem!
13. I have participated in a previous HIC. Can I join HIC again?
Last year participants can participate in the game, provided that they were not in the final teams of any participating country last year (i.e. in the national finals of these countries). All finalists can take part by announcing the challenge to friends, roomates or students they would like to recommend the challenge to.
14. I am a Phd student: can I apply?
No, students attending a Doctoral Program, Phd or MBA cannot apply.
