Conductive Solutions for the Thin Film Photovoltaic Interconnections

End of September will bring the who’s who of the photovoltaic industry to the 24th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference in Hamburg. At the accompanying trade fair (September 21 – 24) Henkel shows a broad variety of solutions covering the entire photovoltaic process chain. Take for example the electrically conductive adhesives from Henkel’s Emerson & Cuming™ Range.

Be it crystalline or thin film module production, Henkel’s electrically conductive adhesives are tailor-made to fit the needs of the photovoltaic industry. The portfolio of Henkel’s Emerson & Cuming brand offers solutions for long-term reliable, stable electrical contact, even on various non-noble metal connection points.

The production of thin film solar modules requires a high throughput material without exposure to high temperatures. Henkel understands the needs of this application and has responded with the perfect solution: ECCOBOND™ CA 3556 HF. It is ideally suited for high throughput production processes leading to reduced overall cost. The innovative adhesive creates a flexible electrically conductive bond with high peel strength and great long term reliability for contact resistance. It comes as a one component product not requiring any mixing which makes handling a lot easier and contributes to substantially reducing waste. And, important to mention, is one additional benefit: It is fully RoHS compliant.

Electrically conductive adhesives from Emerson & Cuming™ are a state-of-the-art alternative to traditional photovoltaic production methods. Crystalline silicon solar modules, for example, have so far been manufactured by attaching pre-soldered tabs to the back of the solar cells. As these crystalline cells become thinner and larger this process creates quality and reliability issues. Henkel’s answer to this challenge is an elaborate range of electrically conductive adhesives, helping the photovoltaic industry to keep pace with the newest developments.

A leading event specialized in Photovoltaics
For 32 years now, the European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition has combined a very nameable international Scientific Conference with an Industry Exhibition. Over five days of conference and four days of exhibition, new products and technical innovations from all areas of photovoltaics and from all over the world are on show. The EU PVSEC ranks as the world's leading event specialized in Photovoltaics.

The 24th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition EU PVSEC 2009 will be held in Hamburg, Germany. The PV Solar Conference is expected to attract some 4,000 participants, and the accompanying industry exhibition around 40,000 visitors. More than 800 exhibitors will be presenting new ideas and technical solutions in the field of Photovoltaics. One of them is Henkel. Its stand can be found B6/1.
