Henkel participates in JEC 2010 fair

Advanced Solutions for Composite Manufacturing

Henkel provides clear benefits for composite customers with innovative solutions in structural bonding and mould release. From April 13 to 15, these technologies will be in the focus at the Henkel booth at JEC 2010 fair in Paris. The aim is to demonstrate the advantages of the products and exchange experiences with experts.

Development of new materials with their wide-ranging application potential poses major challenges for modern bonding technology. In production, adhesive technology enables optimum use of specific material properties and implementation of new construction methods such as lightweight construction. Use of structural adhesives has also become essential to the widely used mixed construction method as well as the application of all kinds of metal, synthetic and fiber composite materials. As the world's leading manufacturer of adhesive and sealants Henkel provides a general-purpose selection of structural adhesives for all kinds of industrial applications.

First certified PU-adhesive for bonding rotor blades
One example is Henkel’s Macroplast UK 1340 adhesive for wind turbines. These must perform reliably for a specified service life of 20 years without major repairs. And the rotor blades of large turbines have to satisfy especially stringent standards regarding fatigue strength. Conventionally, they are bonded together e.g. by using epoxy adhesives certified for this application by Germanischer Lloyd (GL). With Macroplast UK 1340, Henkel is now the first company to develop a GL-certified polyurethane adhesive for rotor-blade production. The new technology offers multiple benefits to wind turbine manufacturers, allowing them to optimize processes, improve productivity and reduce costs. At the same time, this forward-looking product from Henkel has excellent sustainability credentials.

Mould release made simple
Frekote mould release agents, backed by over 40 years of research and development, are the global industry standard for performance, quality and value. A comprehensive range of Frekote release agents is formulated to provide the maximum number of releases for composite systems including Epoxies, Polyester, Vinyl Ester and Polyurethane. Frekote continues to focus on innovation and is proud to be demonstrating a new water-based release agent designed for epoxy resin systems and polyester gel-coat at the JEC 2010. At the demonstration area customers can view the mould release application process from preparation, cleaning and sealing, to applying the release agent. Best practice, ‘hints and tips’ and trouble shooting will be highlighted during the different application phases.

Henkel’s booth (R45, H1) at the JEC 2010 provides visitors with more information about structural adhesives and mould releases for general industry.
