Bruno Piacenza to succeed Friedrich Stara as Executive Vice President Laundry & Home Care

Bruno Piacenza (44), Corporate Senior Vice President, currently responsible for the Cosmetics business in the regions Western Europe, Middle East/North Africa and Asia/Pacific and President of Henkel in France, will succeed Dr. Friedrich Stara (61) at the Management Board as Executive Vice President Laundry & Home Care on March 1, 2011. 

Dr. Friedrich Stara will turn 62 in March 2011 and will retire as previously planned at the end of February 2011. Bruno Piacenza will join the Board of Henkel Management AG as of January 1, 2011 to ensure a successful transition.

Bruno Piacenza held various management positions at Henkel. The native French holds an MBA of HEC Paris. Prior to joining Henkel he worked for a consultancy firm. Since 1990 he held challenging management positions in the Cosmetics/Toiletries business including responsibility for various countries, regions and business units. Since 2006, he is also President of Henkel France. In addition to French and English he fluently speaks German and Italian.
Dr. Friedrich Stara is member of Henkel Board since June 2005 and responsible for the Laundry & Home Care business area. The native Austrian, who joined Henkel in 1976 held different positions in the Laundry & Home Care business, including President for the overall Henkel business in Central and Eastern Europe. Under his leadership the global Laundry & Home Care business developed very successful.

In fiscal 2009, the Laundry & Home Care business sector reported sales of 4.13 billion euros and an operating profit (EBIT) of 530 million euros. The portfolio of the Laundry & Home Care business at Henkel includes heavy duty detergents, fabric ofteners and specialty detergents, bath and WC cleaners, universal and specialty cleaners for household applications as well as hand and machine dishwashing products with well-known and leading brands such as Persil, Pril and Purex.
