Henkel Manager voted “Positively Powerful Woman”

Pamela Lam, vice president of R&D for Laundry and Home Care in North America, was one of six honorees recognized in the 5th Annual Positively Powerful Woman Awards.

Described as an inventor who understands exceedingly well the importance of sustainability, Pam Lam is responsible for product development for the Purex, Soft Scrub, Renuzit and Combat brands. These attributes are of great significance given the global reach and products of Henkel. In addition to her other corporate commitments, Lam is a mentor and a contributor in her community. It is for these reasons that she was selected as one of the recipients of the 2012 Positively Powerful Woman Award in the Corporate Leadership category.

The Positively Powerful Woman Award is given to women leaders known for their community contributions, success, resourcefulness and vision. Lam has numerous patents and a track record in delivering innovations. Her experience crosses all disciplines within R&D including an overseas assignment in China. “These patents are work related and can be dry and technical. Early in my career as a scientist researcher, my patents were on molecules designs to deliver color safe bleach benefit. Later when I moved into product development, I invented and co-invented surfactants to deliver superior whiteness and a method to formulate products which are environmental friendly. I also have patents specific to pre-treating applications,” she stated.

The scientist is a founding advisory member of the Asian American Professional Association (AAPA) at Henkel in Scottsdale, AZ, an active member serving on the Scottsdale Workforce Development and an advocate for young talent development. She has formally and informally mentored dozens of young professionals. Lam holds an MS degree in Chemistry from Steven Institute of Technology. In addition, she received her Supply Chain Professional Certification at ASU in 2010. Born in Vietnam, she has had the pleasure of living in five cities and four countries. She is also a corporate advisory member of the Phoenix Chapter of the National Association of Asian America Professionals (NAAAP).
