High-performance enzymes for laundry detergents

Henkel and c-LEcta have entered into a collaboration to develop novel enzymes for more sustainable laundry detergents targeting persistent, highly consumer-relevant stains on textiles. In the joint research project c-LEcta will identify substances based on the company’s proprietary enzyme engineering technologies. Henkel’s extensive experience in developing detergent enzymes and formulations will allow determining the ingredients which are most suitable for better stain removal during single-wash applications.

Henkel garners another sustainability accolade: On June 20, 2013, specialists in sustainability investing RobecoSAM will, for the second consecutive year, be conferring their “SAM Sustainability Awards,” with Henkel due for honors as the Gold Class and Sector Leader in recognition of its successes in pursuing sustainable development. One of the selected few, Henkel will be receiving its award as the top sustainability performer in the “Nondurable Household Products” category at a ceremony in Frankfurt am Main. Kathrin Menges, Executive Vice President Human Resources and Chair of Henkel's Sustainability Council, will be appearing personally to receive the honor. “We are very pleased to have done so well in this ranking. This award confirms our position in the vanguard of sustainable development and serves as a further spur for us to extend our lead as we continue to drive progress in this domain," says Kathrin Menges.
