In plug potting, hotmelts are used for sealing the plug and for cable strain relief. Since the molds are less expensive than those used in injection molding, even smaller series are economical.

One of the strengths of the molding process is the possibility of injecting molding grommets in the places where they are needed. This overcomes the time-consuming process of slipping the grommet on. The molding can also include strain relief.

It is the low pressures applied during the enclosure that prevent damage to electronic components and elements. The enclosure protects the electronics from external influences (moisture, mechanical stressing) and is capable of serving as a housing.
