Molding Systems

The molding system consists of the material, the mold, the machine and the application technology.

Choosing the right product

In selecting the right product, you are supported on site by your Henkel contact. He or she can draw on high-power application technology resources to assist in handling your projects.

Molds

Most of the molds are made of less expensive aluminum. The non-abrasive adhesive and aluminum reduce the force required for demolding. Molds for large series can be made of steel. Steel is also advisable in order to reduce mold wear caused by inserts. At the same time, the inserts coming into direct contact with the adhesive are made of aluminum.

Any mold maker with experience in molds for plastics is capable of making molds for Macromelt Molding.

Machines - basic working principles

The adhesive is melted in the tank of the premelter. It is then usually fed by a gear pump down a hose to the injector head. The pump builds up pressure, which is normally regulated by a bypass. The nozzle at the injector head is opened and closed by a time control and the material is injected into the mold.

Cycle time (injection time and cooling time) is between 10 and 45 seconds for 90% of applications. The machine's clamping force is important for calculation of the number of cavities.

Together with our global partners in machine technology we can provide solutions for almost all applications and production conditions.
