Exciting horse racing at ninth Henkel race meeting
13 mares compete for a lion
Düsseldorf - When the starting gate opens for the Henkel race at 4.35 p.m., 13 three-year-old mares will compete for the special award of a block of crystal glass, in which is set a three-dimensional lion. Ulrich Lehner, Chairman of the Management Board of Henkel KGaA, will present the trophy to the winning owner. The prize money is 200,000 euros. The name "German One Thousand Guineas" indicates the status of the race, as "One Thousand Guineas" races are classic European events for three-year-old mares. A total of ten races will be held at the Henkel meeting (see attachment).
The on-course events will be accompanied by an extensive off-course program. Gymnastic prodigy Fabian Hambüchen will be present in the tent to sign autographs for his fans, and live music will be provided by the Marshall Emms Band. Circus-Varieté Merz & Pilini will entertain younger visitors, who will also be able to play on a bouncy castle, paint their faces or take part in a competition to produce the best painting of a horse. They will also be able to enjoy pony rides in the grounds of the Grafenberg racetrack.
As May 8 is Mother's Day, all ladies will be welcomed with a flower by Henkel, and those of them who are wearing a hat when they leave the race course will receive an additional small gift. Four milliners will be presenting their creations at several booths.
The Henkel race meeting is part of the Henkel Smile program. The maxim of this initiative is social engagement. The Company engages in social, educational, environmental and scientific projects, as well as providing support to schools and to youth, culture, sport and arts activities.
