Clean bill of health for hotmelt adhesives 
"And the winner is ..." - The Henkel Sustainability Report swept the board. The 42-page report from Düsseldorf outclassed 150 other German publications on sustainable business practices. At the beginning of the year, Henkel was awarded the prize for the best sustainability report by Unternehmensvereinigung future e.V., the Institute for Ecological Business Research and the business magazine "Capital". While the Jury focused its attention mainly on the content, the Henkel Sustainability Report is also distinguished by its ecological production process. To bind the spine of the publication, for instance, the company chose an innovative polyurethane hotmelt with significantly improved user safety.  more...

Düsseldorf - The Henkel Group has acquired a majority stake in Huawei Electronics Co. Ltd., Lianyungang, in the Chinese province of Yiangsu. Huawei Electronic is a leading manufacturer of epoxy molding compounds for semiconductors in China and, with 560 employees, generated sales of approx. 18 million euros in fiscal 2004.  more...

Pensions to be ring-fenced in future within a CTA fund<br> Henkel plans to issue bond to finance pension obligations in Germany 
Henkel intends to restructure the basis on which pension obligations with respect to its employees and retirees in Germany are financed. This would involve the issue of a bond for around 1 billion euros. The proceeds are to be paid into a special-purpose fund known as a CTA (Contractual Trust Arrangement). This would result in increased financial strength for Henkel and better pension protection for beneficiaries.  more...

Lehner receives SIFE award in recognition of his exemplary support for the organization 
Prof. Ulrich Lehner, Chairman of the Management Board of Henkel KGaA, has now been recognized with the SIFE "Global Champion" award in honor of his many years of outstanding personal contribution to the SIFE initiative (Students In Free Enterprise). This international student organization, whose motto reads "Changing the World", bases its activities on principles such as social responsibility, entrepreneurship and helping people to help themselves. These then provide the terms of reference for the projects - often with a regional or even global remit - that are carried out by the students. At the 1st MIT Initiative Photography Contest:<br>A smile is not enough 
Employees and pensioners all over the world hunt for motifs with their cameras / More than 400 entries / Ten prizes

The Henkel Smile Program may have been behind it, but a smile simply wasn't enough. 118 employees and pensioners entered their amateur photographs in the 1st MIT Initiative Photography Contest. Motifs drawn from projects sponsored through the MIT Initiative, Henkel's Corporate Volunteering Program, were to be submitted. The jury had to judge the more than 400 photo motifs submitted by employees and pensioners from 26 countries. For the ten best motifs, there were monetary awards of 750 euros each, to be used to benefit the social projects in which the individual photographers are involved.  more...

Henkel has a policy of ensuring early access to the technologies of the future in order to meet its own research and development requirements. Hence the brand manufacturer's willingness to collaborate - often with an appropriate venture capital investment - with high-tech companies operating in strategically important areas of research. Henkel thus provides financial support to young start-ups and selected entrepreneurs intending to establish themselves on the basis of a viable concept or idea. To mark World Children's Day, as established by the United Nations, on September 20, 2005, Henkel will again provide a million euros for 2005 for its employees' and pensioners' children's projects, as it has in the past five years. Henkel employees at World Youth Day 2005: Volunteers “Make an Impact on Tomorrow” 
24 Henkel employees and four apprentices will be doing their best to make guests from all over the world feel comfortable at the 20th World Youth Day, to take place in and around Cologne from August 15 to 21, 2005. As a company, Henkel is supporting this social commitment of its employees in numerous ways under its motto "MIT - Make an Impact on Tomorrow." 14 of the 24 employees involved will be given a total of 49 days of paid time off from work so that they can assist participants in World Youth Day, and 24 parishes and aid organizations are receiving financial support and product donations from the range of branded consumer products. Henkel's support of World Youth Day 2005, through its employees and apprentices, is valued at a total of approximately 50,000 euros. Henkel stays the course with second-quarter results  
In the second quarter of 2005, the Henkel Group was once again able to report significant increases in both sales and operating profit. Net earnings for the quarter and earnings per share were also above the prior-year level.

"The positive development of the first quarter has continued in the second quarter. We have markedly increased organic growth thanks to a number of successful product innovations," said Ulrich Lehner, Chairman of the Man-agement Board of Henkel KGaA. "Aside from the good developments ongoing in our growth regions, the positive trend in Europe - including Germany - has also continued. Successful start to sponsorship of Beach Volleyball World Tour in Paris<br>"Vive Henkel!" 
Düsseldorf/Paris/Klagenfurt - The Swatch FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour event in Paris, which ended on Sunday, was a successful premiere for Henkel on the sand. A total of almost 100 000 spectators followed the matches. Paris was the first of two Henkel-sponsored tournaments. This week the Tour moves to Wörthersee, where the digging and setting will continue. Henkel is supporting the tournament in Klagenfurt, which is being held from 3 to 7 August. Henkel is establishing a new beachhead - in the Swatch FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour. For the first time, the Company is sponsoring two Grand Slam events, in Paris und Klagenfurt. The players will be digging and setting at the foot of the Eiffel Tower from July 26 to 31, and in Klagenfurt from August 3 to 7. A very professional style, an unusual product, and an outstandly creative selection of photos were the winning features in the nationwide German President's School Newspaper Contest for 2005. In this year's national finale, the two editors-in-chief, Katja Kraft and Jens Draser-Schieb, and their editorial team of "Five to Eight" (original German name: "fünf vor Acht") prevailed over 171 school newspapers from various types of schools from all sixteen German states, winning the Henkel Special Prize for clear branding. The three-part prize will be presented to the winning team today, Thursday, June 9, 2005, in Berlin. The race will be staged on Sunday, May 8, as the highlight of the ninth Henkel race meeting at the Grafenberg race course. Henkel: off to a good start in 2005 
In the first quarter of 2005, the Henkel Group achieved a significant increase both in sales and comparable operating profit. Net earnings and earnings per share for the quarter were also above the comparable level of the prior-year quarter.

Henkel Names Bradley A. Casper President and Chief Executive Officer of: The Dial Corporation 
Henkel KGaA, based in Dusseldorf, Germany, today announced that Bradley A. Casper has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of The Dial Corporation, a subsidiary of Henkel KGaA. Henkel staying the course: Increase in sales and profits at all business sectors 
The Henkel Group increased both sales and operating profit (EBIT) in fiscal 2004. All business sectors contributed to improvements of 12.3 percent in sales and 12.7 percent in EBIT (before exceptional items). Corporate management will propose to the Annual General Meeting a 10 eurocent increase in dividend payout versus the prior year.

"Despite the difficult economic environment, 2004 was another good year for Henkel. We achieved our specified targets and have made Henkel well positioned for the future," said Ulrich Lehner, Chairman of the Management Board of Henkel KGaA. "Strengthened by our US business and our presence in growth regions we intend to grow faster than our relevant markets in 2005. The Henkel Sustainability Report 2003 took first place in the ranking list compiled by future e.V., the IÖW Institute for Ecological Economy Research and the business magazine Capital. Henkel reports rise in sales and profits - Higher dividend proposed  
Despite the difficult economic environment, the Henkel Group significantly exceeded its prior-year figures in fiscal 2004 - both in sales with an increase of 12.3 percent and in operating profit (EBIT) with an increase of 12.7 percent (excluding exceptional items). The group financial statements have already been audited.

"For Henkel, 2004 was a highly eventful and also a successful year. We will therefore propose an increase in the dividend payout to the Annual General Meeting," said Ulrich Lehner, Chairman of the Management Board of Henkel KGaA. "We have initiated numerous measures in order to ensure that we remain on track for further successes in 2005. The acquisitions in North America and investments in regions with future potential like Latin America, Asia and Eastern Europe have strengthened Henkel and make us more independent from single markets."  more...

Düsseldorf/Tunis - The Henkel Group will be present at the 19th World Handball Championship in Tunisia, which starts on Sunday, January 23, 2005. Düsseldorf Four German corporations appear among the first ten leading European companies ranked by social responsibility. In the study commissioned by the renowned German business magazine "Manager Magazin" and presented this week in Berlin, Henkel was placed 10th out of 80 European corporations. The independent jury comprising leading experts in the fields of corporate social responsibility and corporate citizenship thus acknowledged the level of social responsibility shown by Henkel as a company and its wide-ranging engagement at home and abroad. The expert committee awarded Henkel high scores in the categories personnel development, social involvement, financial performance, transparency and environmental protection. With effect from the start of 2005, the company has brought all its corporate citizenship and social responsibility activities under one umbrella in the form of the "Henkel Smile" program.  more...
