A positive result for Henkel

With a total of 1,971 exhibitors and purchase contracts valued at over 10 billion euros having been concluded, print media show Drupa 2008 broke all records this year – more than fulfilling the expectations of the exhibitors. As a supplier of innovative adhesive systems for the graphic arts, flexible packaging and paper processing segments, Henkel also profited from the beneficial investment climate at this leading international trade fair.

Drupa 2008, held in Düsseldorf from May 29 to June11, was XXL this time around. The wide range of innovative products, solutions and services on show at this, the world’s largest and most important trade fair for the print and media industries, attracted some 400,000 visitors. Henkel, world market leader in adhesives, sealants and surface treatment technologies, also exhibited its complete product and service portfolio for the printing and packaging industries: from UV-curing adhesive systems for bookbinders and especially fast-hardening laminating adhesives to innovative UV-effect coatings designed to give surfaces a brilliant metallic gleam.

“Drupa exceeded our expectations and once again proved to be an ideal platform for offering sector customers from throughout the world new products and individual advice,” exudes Mario Eckers, Head of Sales for Graphic Arts in the EMEA region, in fulsome praise of the event. Due to the positive visitor response, the company is anticipating a strong boost to sales in the coming year, particularly in the polyurethane hotmelt adhesives segment. “The high level of interest in our top-quality PURmelt brand of adhesives reflects a general trend toward the increased usage of safe adhesive solutions offering added value,” Eckers explains. At its stand, Henkel was able to welcome around 1,000 purchasers and potential customers. The company was also well represented by its innovative adhesive solutions at all the other stands occupied by renowned machinery manufacturers. Hence, the advantages of Henkel adhesives were also very much in evidence during the live demonstrations of the various machines on show.

Henkel was also able to offer Drupa visitors the perfect complementary “fringe” in the form of various information events at the company’s Düsseldorf HQ. At the Henkel Graphic Arts Symposium, and the Liofol Open House, business customers were able to supplement the information gained at the fair with details and specifics relating to Henkel’s very latest developments. The link-up with Drupa –  a true magnet for the international print and media community – has thus proven to be an ideal concept.
