Henkel is the winner of the ESG Award 2008
The contributions made by Henkel to the fields of environment, social responsibility and corporate governance (environmental, social, governance; ESG) are exemplary among the businesses represented in the German Share Index. This is confirmed by the current distinction of Henkel with the “ESG Award 2008.” The Deutsche Vereinigung für Finanzanalyse und Asset Management (DVFA) - the professional association of financial analysts - and the business magazine Wirtschaftswoche presented this prize yesterday evening in Frankfurt am Main.
The DVFA called on a team of experts to develop the evaluation criteria: 30 specialists from the worlds of business, finance, science and non-governmental organizations established guidelines by which the performance of share index listed companies in fields such as environmental sustainability, product safety and absentee rate for employees become measurable, thus making a comparison possible.
Dr. Lothar Steinebach, a member of the management board and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Henkel expressed his pleasure at the renewed external confirmation of Henkel’s sustainability performances and said, “Many years ago, Henkel recognized and implemented the importance of sustainable economic management in all processes. We are therefore especially pleased that our continued efforts have received this recognition. Sustainability supports economic success and thus contributes to securing long-term global competitiveness.”
Current information on sustainable and socially responsible economic management at Henkel will be available tomorrow, March 13, 2008, at the annual sustainability press conference in Düsseldorf. Start: 10:00 a.m. The press conference will be broadcast live on the internet. (www.henkel.de/presse; then click on the link “Sustainability Press Conference 2008”).
