Our Definition
  • Sustainability: People living well, within the resource limits of the planet. This is based on the Vision 2050 by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) 
  • Leadership: We pioneer new solutions to sustainability challenges and successfully develop a sustainable and profitable business based on a long-term goal, clear targets for the next five years and strategic principles. 

 

Our Strategy

Achieving more with less: We deliver more value for our customers, consumers, communities and our company with a smaller footprint.

 

Our Tools for Implementation
  • 20-year-goal "Factor 3" until 2030: Triple the value we create for the footprint made by our operations, products and services. We summarize this ambition to become three times more efficient as "Factor 3". 
  • 5-year-targets until 2015: Working towards our 20-year-goal we have set specific interim targets in our focal areas (see image). Overall, we aim to improve our efficiency by 30 percent over the next 5 years (5 to 6 percent per year). 
  • Six focal areas: We focus our activities throughout the value chain on six areas which represent the relevant sustainability challenges for our operations. They are divided into two dimensions - "more value" and "reduced footprint". 
  • Three strategic principles: To successfully implement our strategy and to drive sustainability though our business we have three strategic principles - our products, partners and people.
