Vision & Values
To ensure that our activities are continuously aligned to sustainable development, the Company and all its employees are guided by our vision and values. They create a common value system that connects the more than 52,000 Henkel employees worldwide.
Henkel´s vision is to be a leader with brands and technologies that make people's lives easier, better and more beautiful. Our products and technologies are designed to make a valuable contribution to society and to continuously further and support a sustainable development in all countries in which we operate. The values derived from the vision are the foundations of the behavior and actions of all Henkel employees in all business areas and cultures in which Henkel operates. They are the expression of our corporate culture and adhere closely to the principles of sustainable business practice.
Communication of the Corporate Values
Our corporate values are continuously communicated, with the aim of anchoring them more firmly in the minds of all employees. An important aspect of this was the creation of a symbol for each of the ten values, serving as simple and compact visual representations. In the employee newspaper, for example, they indicate the values referred to in the individual articles. This makes it easier for employees to relate them to their daily activities.
Communicating Sustainability
To enable us to conduct our business activities responsibly throughout the world, the idea of sustainability must be embedded in the consciousness and daily activities of all employees. We convey our understanding of sustainability and corporate social responsibility to our employees by means of numerous internal communication instruments:
In our management systems, our vision, values, codes and standards are detailed in concrete work instructions. Modules on the subject of sustainability are a fixed part of basic and advanced training, of environmental protection weeks, orientation events and programs for new employees and apprentices. Workshops on specific themes – such as logistics, marketing, research and bioplastics – are intended not only to create a common basis of knowledge, but to ensure that the solutions generated take into account all aspects of sustainable development. The “Save energy” and “Save gasoline” campaigns communicated through the Henkel intranet are designed to encourage all employees to think about their own actions.
