Accessibility

At Henkel, we are committed to making our website more accessible and easier to use for all our visitors, while still maintaining a quality experience – which we aim to deliver in everything we do.

Our objective is to conform to level AA of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. What this means in practice is that we want our website to be accessible to people with a diverse range of hearing, movement, sight, and cognitive abilities.

In accordance with the above, we have created this website using code that is compliant with W3C standards for XHTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). The site should always display each page correctly and consistently in up-to-date browsers. In addition, our use of compliant XHTML / CSS code also means that any new browsers or updates to existing versions should also display pages correctly.

Overview of Website Accessibility

We have utilized several key features to improve accessibility across a range of areas on our website. Below you can find a list of some of the measures we have implemented to make our web pages as accessible and easy-to-navigate as possible.

Site Layout

Our web pages are laid out for easy navigation by visitors using screen readers. We have used semantic HTML5 tagging to differentiate between content headings, sections, tables, form fields, and other format features. In addition, website guests can now use the left and right arrow buttons on their keyboard like a mouse to navigate and interact with menu items onscreen. These layouts have been designed to ensure all visitors who require assistive technology can use our website with ease.

Text and Background Colors

We consider accessibility of design as a key part of the creation process, even when our web pages are rich with content, images, and functionality. As such, all content is designed to be easily readable.

Text Alternatives

Wherever we use images on the site, screen readers can find a text-based alternative in the alternate text content.

Zooming

Most modern browsers support zooming. This allows users to increase or decrease the size of the page content without losing any functionality. As such, visitors will be able to zoom-in or zoom-out of Henkel’s web pages, when needed.

Keyboard Accessibility

Most of our web pages can be utilized with only tab-based keyboard or keyboard emulators for easier navigation.

Browser Support

Our web pages will render correctly on up-to-date versions of most major browsers, including Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Google Chrome.

Third Party-Provided Components

Here at Henkel, we are working towards making all content that appears on our site accessible.

Since some of our web pages do use third-party components, we encourage our vendors to also provide content that is accessible and user friendly.

While some content may not be fully accessible yet, we have identified this as a primary focus for all future web pages and are working hard to make our site better for all our visitors.
