Cooperation on climate protection

BASF and Henkel focus on renewable raw materials in Henkel’s consumer goods products

  • Around 110,000 tons per year of fossil-based ingredients will be substituted with renewable carbon sources using BASF’s certified biomass balance approach.
  • The measure will ramp up quickly and avoid around 200,000 tons of CO2 emissions in total.

Henkel named CRDC as winner of unique ‘Seal the Cycle’ initiative

Henkel Adhesive Technologies as a global leading supplier for adhesives, sealants and functional coatings has announced the winner of its ‘Seal the Cycle’ initiative. With this international open innovation call in collaboration with Chile Global Ventures, the venture capital arm of Fundación Chile, the partners aimed to find technology solutions enabling the recycling or reusing of the millions of silicone cartridges for adhesives and sealants applications marketed around the globe annually. The initiative is complementary with Henkel´s sustainability ambitions and underlines the company´s commitment to further drive progress towards a circular economy.

Reaching milestones on the way to CO2-neutrality

More Henkel sites achieve CO2-neutral production

Two more German Henkel sites have achieved significant milestones in the area of sustainability: The Laundry & Home Care production in Düsseldorf and the Beauty Care production site in Wassertrüdingen, Bavaria, have been converted to operate with 100 percent CO2-neutral energy. Henkel aims to make its entire production worldwide climate-positive by 2030.

    • Group sales reach 20.1 billion euros, +7.8 percent organic growth
    • Operating profit* increases to 2.7 billion euros, +4.2 percent
    • EBIT margin* on prior-year level: 13.4 percent
    • Earnings per preferred share (EPS)*: 4.56 euros, +9.2 percent adjusted for currency effects
    • Good free cash flow of 1.5 billion euros, net financial position significantly improved

Henkel and RWTH Aachen University’s spin-off PEM Motion sign a cooperation agreement aiming to pioneer next generation battery technologies

Henkel’s E-Mobility business unit establishes a strategic partnership with PEM Motion

Henkel has entered a strategic partnership with RWTH Aachen University’s Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components (PEM Motion GmbH) to collaborate on research projects in the field of e-mobility. By building a strong partnership between industry and academia, the organizations will pioneer next generation battery technologies, explore material requirements for their realization and in the development of safer and more sustainable batteries. The cooperation agreement was signed at Henkel’s Inspiration Center in Düsseldorf on February 4, by Dr. Christoph Deutskens, CEO of PEM Motion, Professor Achim Kampker, head of the chair “Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components” (PEM) of RWTH Aachen University and Partner at the spin-off PEM Motion, and George Kazantzis, Corporate Vice President Adhesive Technologies, Automotive Components at Henkel.
