Grocery Channel Controller


Henkel Beauty Care is a global business active in both the retail and professional beauty markets. In the UK, our Beauty Retail business is growing year on year, brands include household names such as Right Guard, Schwarzkopf, LIVE, got2b and Color Expert.  

An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join our team as Grocery Channel Controller, to head up a dynamic and challenging area and lead a team responsible for key strategic accounts including Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and more. Includes line management of 3 x NAMs and 1 x Commercial Executive.  This is a fantastic opportunity to lead an integral part of the beauty care business.    

The key challenges will include:

  • To support and develop a high performing team to exhibit our values and succeed accordingly.
  • To lead your team in showing no ceiling to ambition with their customers to surpass channel Net sales and profitability targets, in line with budget and strategic guidelines.
  • Produce annual strategic channel plan in alignment with the overall commercial strategy with clear objectives, goals, strategy and measures.
  • Support team in the translation of the strategy into specific account plans that maximise the opportunites and minimise risks.
  • Oversee and support in the development and execution of ambitious trading plans with customers, including maximising distribution, listings, space and promotion visibility in key accounts.
  • Support in the annual negotiations with accounts to deliver the required profitable business growth and internal stretch plan.
  • Establish and maintain strong, influential and sustainable relationships at a senior level in key customers to support growth plans and initiatives.
  • To support the Sales Director in total business target & objective delivery.
  • To ensure team's monthly & rolling annual forecast are robust and accurate, and that necessary administration is completed promptly.
  • Become an 'expert' of the channel, accounts and the categories we operate in.
  • Exceed expectations and make things happen whilst ensuring we outperform the market and customer growth.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to provide market-leading solutions to our customers.
  • Live and breathe our values as a senior example to the wider team, with the strength and commitment to hold yourself, team and colleagues to account against them.   


  • Demonstrable success in National Account Management roles within FMCG.
  • A strategic thinker with strengths in analysis, planning and forecasting.
  • Proven track record in negotiations with major national accounts.
  • Fully experienced in all aspects of P&L management.
  • Previous line-management experience.
  • Fully conversant with the principles of brand marketing, category management and supply chain management.
  • Will be expected to deliver against Henkel Leadership commitments.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
  • Fully conversant with MS Office.
