  • Responsible for developing new products in support of marketing or specific customer requests as laid out in the quality procedures in order to grow sales
  • Responsible for reformulating products if raw materials have been changed and ensure performance has not been compromised in order to support existing sales
  • Responsible for ensuring all projects are written up and work communicated globally with other parts of Henkel to ensure that latest and best information is available in support of customers
  • Responsible for developing any new product quality test procedures in support of product development and quality assurance
  • Support QA function in resolution of customer complaints in production
  • Contribute actively to a safe working environment by applying safety procedures while ensuring that they and any visitors/subcontractors they may be working with do not break any safety rules
  • Ensure that Technicians work in a safe manner in line with Henkel SHE policy


  • At least University level (preferably PhD) chemistry/chemical engineer qualifications is required. Preferably with background or experience in polymer science or materials science
  • Must be able to create presentations at internal and external conferences, trade shows and scientific association meetings regarding avenues of research and new advances
  • Must be able to converse and write reports in English in order to communicate with customers and other Henkel locations
  • Develops and prepares competitive intelligence documents used in formulation of patents, trademarks and trade secrets for specific markets or clients
  • Conducts “Intellectual Property” mapping for specific projects of defined scope
  • Applies expert knowledge to research and development platforms for market or client applications
  • Plans and executes project plans to deliver results and manages complex projects or concurrent projects of defined scope. Must have the ability to work on several tasks simultaneously
