Distribution Team Lead

Position Objectives: 
Perform the necessary tasks and duties involved with the picking and packing of customer orders shipped each day.  Ensure completion, accuracy, and timeliness of all shipments.

Coordinate all functions of order consolidation and completion of shipments with corresponding paperwork to ensure that shipments make their requested delivery dates.
Locate loads into stage locations as they arrive from both line and off line picks.
Merge and re-identify loads to maximize the cube of shipments.
Perform evaluation and verification of shipments as needed.
Maintain shipments to correct carriers as needed.
Work with carriers to ensure timely pick up and follow up as needed to “clear”
the dock by end of day.
Relay information to all required.
Maintain and order shipping supplies as needed.
Lead line activities to ensure efficiency and best utilization of labor.
Verify the identity of carrier drivers and obtain required information to release shipments for transit.
Assign loaders to shipments for truckloads and wrap and load shipments on designated equipment.
Maintain high level of accuracy and efficiency while performing all tasks.
Keep area neat and clean while sustaining 5S activities to uphold department goals.
Perform other assignments as assigned.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or HSE; up to 5 years’ experience working in a distribution center, or equivalent.  
No bending or lifting restrictions.  
Ability to operate a forklift.  
Experience with shipping hazardous materials. 
Supervisory experience helpful.

Physical Requirements:
The position is in the factory and could involve sitting, standing, walking and lifting for long periods of time throughout the day.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 70 pounds.  No restrictions for reaching, bending, stooping or lifting.

Working Conditions:
The performance of this position normally requires exposure to typical manufacturing areas where under certain conditions the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, and hygienic precautions, such as hairnets, are required.  The work environment is not climate controlled.  Noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.  Regular attendance is required.  Overtime may be required. It is the responsibility of each employee to conduct tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state, and federal safety, health, and environmental regulations, company program standards, company policies, and special safety concerns while protecting yourself, the organization, and the environment.  You are ultimately responsible for your safety and well-being.
