Job purpose:
The Mechanic Operator in the Packaging Department will have the capability and responsibility for the operation of a wide range of liquid filling and packaging lines. This role, through a line ownership approach will directly lead the operation of the filling line they are running, including the people, materials, performance, schedule attainment, and product change overs.

This individual will serve as a technical leader on the production floor driving line performance, reliability, and OEE for the lines they operate. The individual will be expected to support production escalation due to poor performance, machine defects, or quality non-conformance issues with the support of maintenance personnel. Under the direction of Operations Leadership, this role, through their line crew, and through individual contributions, will be responsible to meet all plant safety, quality, and production requirements, while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, and problem solving through root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
Line Operation:
Coordinate and execute line production schedule. Start up and close work orders autonomously without Packaging Supervisor support. Complete material reconciliation at the end of a run ensuring order and inventory accuracy.
Plan and execute equipment washout and changeovers. Direct line personnel in assisting with line changeovers to maximize changeover efficiency.
Line Maintenance:
Troubleshoot and repair/adjust minor mechanical issues on packaging line equipment, maximizing line OEE.
Perform preventative and autonomous maintenance on packaging line equipment. Act as the Certified Trainer for the other operators on the line to learn and assist with PMs.
Line Performance:
Develop and manage equipment centerlines. Understand line performance requirements and how equipment is performing against those requirements. Escalate any line safety, performance, and quality issues to Packaging Supervision.
Team Leadership and Development:
Work with other mechanical and Engineering resources to lead line ownership and drive continuous improvement. Lead Focused Improvement Teams. Guide teams through root cause analysis and solution implementation.

The Mechanic Operator will perform all duties consistent with Henkel’s Safety, Health & Environmental regulations.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required.
2-3 years industrial maintenance experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of manufacturing/packaging equipment, and hand and power tools.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Requirements:
Sitting, standing and limited lifting.  Must be able to lift 40 pounds.  Must be able to lift, bend and stoop without restrictions.

Environment:
90% of the duties of this position are performed in a production environment. This position requires exposure to typical manufacturing areas where under certain conditions the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, hearing protection and safety shoes are required. In addition, hygienic precautions, such as hairnets and gloves, are required.  In the manufacturing area, much of the work environment is not climate controlled. Regular attendance is required.  Overtime may be required.
