YOUR ROLE

  • Laboratory scale preparation of adhesive and sealant formulations by compounding in lab-or pilot-scale mixers.
  • Preparation of compounds for testing using lab-scale filling equipment.
  • Testing of compounds and prototypes in accordance with industry standard test methods (ASTM, ISO).
  • Testing includes Tensile/elongation, broad range of rheological testing, stability, environmental and weathering testing as well as testing in applications such as windows, kitchen and bathroom applications,
  • Testing may be done on small lab-scale constructions or on full scale articles e.g. windows.
  • The intern will be responsible for construction of test specimens, maintaining an adequate supply of raw materials.
  • Must work safely at all times in accordance with Henkel EHS safety rules. responsible to maintain a clean and hygienic workplace in accordance with Henkel EHS and Mentor site 5S standards.

YOUR SKILLS

  • Hands-on disposition and approach to work.
  • Work safely at all times in accordance with Henkel EHS rules.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Work with minimal supervision but willing to seek help and follow advice when needed.
  • Experience and confidence with use of power-tools such as table saws, routers, miter saws and other basic carpentry tools.
  • Minimum two years laboratory experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science or a related field.
  • Competent in handling moisture sensitive materials and lab-scale quantities of flammable solvents.
  • Able to maintain an electronic lab notebook and accurately record experimental procedures and processes and tabulate and organize data for use in reports and presentations.
  • Basic computer literacy- Word, excel, PowerPoint, e-mail.
  • Competence in statistical analysis software (e.g. Minitab) is a plus.
  • GPA 3.0 or higher. Work-focused and avoids unnecessary distractions.
