The Materials Manager is responsible for the management of the various planning, control and order fulfillment functions of the plant including:

  • Plant Buying/Planning
  • Production Planning and Scheduling
  • Plant Inventory Control

Overall objective of the Materials Manager is to effectively control the flow of materials through the plant and to integrate various planning and SAP systems, to provide accurate information, effective material control and continuous improvement in plant performance in meeting the objectives and needs of its customers.

  • Manage purchasing, planning and inventory control team 
  • Interacts with internal and external business partners at all levels
  • Schedules, monitors, and supports progress of production orders to ensure on-time shipments to customers.
  • Responsible for maintaining raw material, packaging components, intermediates, third party, and finished good stock levels consistent with business requirements while meeting agreed working capital targets and end customer service levels.
  • Manage orders and relationship to affiliate locations.
  • Work closely with Operations and Corporate Purchasing to establish and implement global strategies.
  • Manage and control operating expenses and departmental costs.
  • Responsible for inventory control and inventory levels.
  • Oversee production planning while utilizing appropriate tools and analysis to ensure smooth production output for plant resources.
  • Responsible for the plant purchasing function to ensure all required raw materials are available to meet production requirements and all quality standards.
  • Participate with logistics sourcing teams in the development of requirements, quote packages, data gathering, evaluation and analysis of bid packages.
  • Proactively and effectively participate in the continuous improvement process both individually and as an assigned member of cross-functional teams.
  • Monitors capacity, output versus plan in all functional areas of responsibility, identifies and resolves issues, and adjust plans, as necessary.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or equivalent.
  • 5 years of Supply Chain experience required.
  • Minimum 2 year experience in leading or supervising and managing planning, inventory, and purchasing functions.
  • Ability to supervise and lead employees to ensure high levels of performance.
  • Strong experience with MRP/ERP systems and planning tools.
  • Results driven with effective written and oral communication.
  • Flexibility to handle multiple tasks including ability to handle pressure in a positive manner.
  • Be knowledgeable and have a working understanding of U.S. import compliance laws. Regulations and inbound freight coordination.
  • Ability to create solid working relationships at all levels.
  • Effectively work in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task
