The Materials Manager is responsible for the management of the various planning, control and order fulfillment functions of the plant including:

  • Plant Buying/Planning
  • Production Planning and Scheduling
  • Plant Inventory Control

Overall objectives of the Materials Manager are to effectively control the flow of materials through the plant and to integrate various planning and SAP systems, to provide accurate information, effective material control and continuous improvement in plant performance in meeting the objectives and needs of its customers. To achieve these objectives, the daily role of the Materials Manager includes:

  • Managing purchasing, planning and inventory control team  
  • Interacting with internal and external business partners at all levels
  • Overseeing production planning while utilizing appropriate tools and analysis to ensure smooth production output for plant resources
  • Participating in the development of requirements, quote packages, data gathering, evaluation and analysis of bid packages
  • Proactively and effectively participate in the continuous improvement process both individually and as an assigned member of cross-functional teams


  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or equivalent.
  • 5 years of Supply Chain experience required.
  • Minimum 2 year experience in leading or supervising and managing planning, inventory, and purchasing functions
  • Ability to supervise and lead employees to ensure high levels of performance.
  • Strong experience with MRP/ERP systems and planning tools.
  • Be knowledgeable and have a working understanding of U.S. import compliance laws
