YOUR ROLE

  • Makes periodic inspections to the plant to correct unsafe conditions, acts or behaviors to enforce safety and environmental procedures.
  • Coordinates and provide safety permit as per Henkel procedures.
  • Coordinates and verifies the collection, identification, segregation, transportation, recovery, and disposal of all wastes generated.
  • Take ownership of workplace safety programs and may train staff on proper procedures to avoid accidents or injuries.
  • Keeps a PPE physical inventory according with the plant requirements.
  • Coordinates employees’ certifications, fit test, PIT, physical tests and others.
  • Support and enforce the plant safety and environmental program such 5S, Recycling, CBS, SUSA, near misses, and others.
  • Prepares and follow up the SUSA and SWA schedules and actions.
  • Creates and provide safety training to new employees, contractors and visitors.
  • Creates and provides and/or coordinates safety health and environmental training to employees.

  • Helps to maintain and organize records of safety health and environmental.
  • Helps to maintain the records of the Safety Data Sheet update in the system.
  • Maintain metrics for the area.
  • Coordinates permits and certifications with the regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate and direct the safety committee with strategic plans.
  • Coordinates and performs safety inspections as defined.
  • Guide and recommend EHS activities.
  • Manage EHS data as per Henkel procedure and periodic EHS regulatory documents.
  • Support audit contractor and EHS policies and standards.
  • Interface with state and federal agencies such as State Environmental agencies, DOT, EPA, OSHA, Health Department and DRNA.
  • Provide support completing reports to agencies.
  • Develop and implement safety programs based on the needs, using resources as the House of Safety.
  • Comply with environmental management system for manufacturing facility.
  • Maintains written programs and permits request as per regulatory authorities.
  • Suggest resources and solutions to execute EHS issues’ improvements.
  • Support investigations and inspections from federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare EHS reports and renew applications.
  • Attend, coordinate, follow and implement strategic plans and meeting organized by Henkel NA.
  • Audit and support ISO Standards and SHE requirements defined by local, regional, and global procedures.
  • Helps develop and conduct emergency plans and strategies.
  • Participates in injury and illness investigations.

YOUR SKILLS

  • A degree in Engineering, Chemical Engineering preferred, BS in Chemistry or Environmental Sciences.
  • Fully Bilingual (Oral/Written).
  • Experience in Safety, Health and Environmental desirable.
  • Waste and potable water operator certification desirable.
  • Generates work orders associated with the SHE department.
  • Monitor contractors’ safety and environmental performance as defined in the contractor corporate procedure.
  • Gives support to the WWPTP and Waste Handling Department as needed.
  • Supports and coordinates SHE department activities and/or initiatives.
  • Monitors plant safety and environmental performances using daily walk around techniques.
  • Coordinate training and inspections with local and contracted resources.
  • Supports and coordinates activities of the Emergency Response Team.
