YOUR ROLE

  • Prepare and prosecute US patent applications, originating from the US and coordinate prosecution of counterpart non-US patent applications. 

  • Filing and prosecuting US patent applications originating from Germany and China among other locations. 

  • Overseeing and managing patent application work being performed by outside counsel. Provide counsel to the business on third party patent positions. Investigate infringement of Henkel US patents by third parties.

  •  Recommend and implement enforcement actions in coordination with outside litigation counsel. Draft, negotiate, and/or review agreements, such as license agreements, secrecy agreements, joint development agreements and acquisition/divestiture agreements.

  • Participate in due diligence and other merger and acquisition activities.  Work with the Research & Development Community on a regular basis to identify inventions, encourage the timely preparation and submission of invention disclosures, and prepare and prosecute .

  • This role can be based in Stamford, CT or Rocky Hill, CT

 YOUR SKILLS

  •  Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or materials science. Juris Doctorate degree from accredited Law School and admitted to at least one state bar and be registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark office. 

  • Academics, industrial, or legal experience with an excellent understanding or organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, and/or material science.

  • 5+ years of experience as a practicing licensed patent attorney, preferably with a mix of law firm and corporate, in house experience. •

  • Recent hands on experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the chemical arts and strong command of USPTO rules and regulations, including the AIA.
