Safety Health Environment Specialist

YOUR ROLE

  • Process Safety Management (PSM) includes elements related to SHE and would be administered by the SHE Specialist such as training operators, safe handling and storage of hazardous materials and Incident and Near Miss investigation.

  • The SHE specialist would manage and administer environmental compliance and reporting including the following: a state air permit, Spill Prevention and Control Plan, Storm water management plan, Hazardous waste program (small quantity generator), Tier 2 reporting, SARA reporting, sustainability plan and reporting and Department of Homeland Security plans. 

  • The site must maintain ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 certifications, there are 19 elements in 18001 and 17 elements in 14001 that must be managed and maintained, included in these are Risk Assessments, Significant environmental aspects, objectives and targets, monitoring and measurement etc.

  • The SHE specialist would take a lead role in managing all SHE site audits and associated findings/OFI

  • Understanding of plant Safety Health and Environmental programs, General Chemical Handling and Housekeeping- overall management of chemicals including use, storage, spill control and housekeeping. In addition, Industrial hygiene monitoring of airborne substances and noise. The SHE specialist will improve the overall hygienic condition of the site by engaging in programs such as 5S. 

YOUR SKILLS

  • BA/BS degree in Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering or another related field
  • Three to five years of related SHE experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experienced professional with OSHA’s Process Safety Management Program, Environmental Permit management, General Industrial Safety, ISO 14001 and OSHA 18001 management systems. 
  • Demonstrates leadership, problem solving and conflict management skills (horizontal and vertical). Excellent problem solving skills, root cause analysis and incident investigation.
