Formulation Scientist

YOUR ROLE

  • The Formulation Scientist will lead all aspects of R&D for new thermal interface material product introductions. 
  • Be the technical expert in adhesive chemistries, polymer network physics, highly filled suspension rheology, and/or resin cure chemistry.
  • Builds prototype samples using processes for web-handling and liquid coating/patterning.
  • Manages technical aspects of project within Stage gate system in conjunction with professional project manager.
  • Assesses logistical requirements to successfully complete projects and plan accordingly.
  • Translates customer and market feedback into technical specifications and develops product formulations and applicable data packages for specific customers and general market.
  • Provides work direction to technicians and/or Engineers/Scientists working on the projects under his/her leadership.

YOUR SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related field is required.
  • Requires 3+ years of related experience with a BS degree, 1+ year of related experience with an MS degree, or a PhD with no industry experience. 
  • Broad knowledge of polymer science, including polymer chemistry, structure property relationships, rheology, bulk and adhesive mechanics of soft materials. 
  • Particle science analytical methods understanding is required.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Office, Labview, Autocad or solid drawing programs and other common technical software packages.
