Lab Technician

Job Summary: Under general supervision, test chemical and physical properties of materials to determine their conformance to established formulas and standards. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental rules, procedures and regulations
  • Perform standard quality control testing on incoming raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished goods according to specifications
  • Calculate and report test results and record data in SAP database
  • Communicate test results to Operations personnel and inform Operations supervision of any problems or issues identified through testing.
  • File and maintain the retain samples; dispose of old retain samples
  • Complete and maintain the required quality records and/or documents as directed by the department standard operating procedures
  • Complete raw material consumptions in SAP.
  • Maintain clean working environment including lab benches, retain sample room, ovens and hood. Comply with area 5S standards for housekeeping and process order.
  • Complete any additional responsibilities entailing the upkeep of the Quality Department and any assigned projects determined by departmental Manager, Supervisor, and Leads. 
  • Generate/issue Certificates of Analysis for customer shipments and ASN’s.


Minimum Qualifications: 
  • High school diploma or GED; Must pass Henkel’s basic skills assessment
  • Knowledgeable in the use of laboratory equipment and instruments
  • Good communication skills - verbal and written
  • Good observation skills and an analytical perspective
  • Able to work well in a fast paced, team environment
  • Computer literate – MS Office / SAP experience highly desirable
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts (4 days one week, 3 days the next)

Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently sit, view a computer screen, and type on a keyboard for extended periods of times
  • Extensive standing and walking in laboratory
  • Occasionally may be required to reach, squat, bend and lift up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to work in a chemical lab and manufacturing environment
  • Ability to handle molten adhesives (350°F) using all required PPE to do so.
