Henkel Moves Under One Roof In Hemel Hempstead

Global brand and technology giant, Henkel, has combined three of its operations under one roof in a purpose designed multi million pound, three-floor, 36,000 square foot building in Hemel Hempstead.

Over 200 employees will work in the new HQ that has transferred from Aylesbury and Hatfield, as well as the former Hemel Hempstead premises, complete in mid-August.

Henkel is a German company and operates worldwide with leading brands including Schwarzkopf Hair Care, Pritt, Sellotape and Loctite.  Henkel UK & Ireland President Liam Murphy commented that the move had many advantages for the company.

“Our UK business has a legacy of many acquisitions and, although we have made some steps over the last ten years we are still in a multi-site environment. We aspire to a “One Henkel” concept and putting these three businesses together under one roof is a giant step towards that goal.  This investment into having a state of the art headquarters building also demonstrates our commitment to the future of the UK business, and of course to Hemel Hempstead.

“The Hemel Hempstead HQ will allow greater inter-action across the businesses, ensuring our colleagues have a modern place of work to be proud of, making the working environment more inspiring and enjoyable. The move will boost team relationships and team working.”

The new HQ has a restaurant and meeting centre and has been designed to be future-proof with a variety of flexible and on-demand working spaces and environments including a Tele-presence suite to enable easy conferencing with colleagues all over the world. There are a variety of client showrooms, a conference area and formal and informal meeting places.

The new building stands alongside Henkel’s existing facility at Wood End Lane, Hemel Hempstead. It features high efficiency heating and cooling systems that also generate hot water. There are movement sensitive controls to minimise energy wastage, automatic leak detection and taps. Solar glass minimises heat gains from the sun.

Mike Peacock, ‘One Roof’ project manager at Henkel, said: “We are very impressed with the new building and it’s great to see the extremely high quality construction and attention to detail demonstrated by the development and construction team. We are really looking forward to bringing our adhesives, beauty care and UK headquarters teams together under ‘one roof’ at Hemel Hempstead for the first time.”
