India has a vibrant agricultural sector where water for irrigation is extracted using submersible pumps. More often than not, corrosion of the rotors due to the water & glycol coolant mixture in submersible pumps leads to loss of efficiency and breakdown. Most of the anticorrosion solutions offer a very short life span to the equipment or are costly and time-consuming to apply.

Henkel launched Loctite Safe Coat in India to address this problem, harnessing the opportunity to offer an easy-to-use anti-corrosion coating that offers twice the service lifetime of any competitor solution. This low viscosity, solvent-based coating is ideal for spraying with a conventional air spray gun at a low pressure of 1-2 bar. The coat also provides a pinhole-free, ultra-smooth and glossy finish with a short cure cycle, significantly improving the surface and reducing the friction that causes “boundary drag".

"This product innovation from India provides almost twice the protection offered by any other market offering. The versatile Henkel product is unique as no thinner is required during the application process. Loctite Safe Coat is 20 percent more cost-effective and is fast becoming a prominent seller in submersible pump OEM market," explains Pradhyumna Ingle, Henkel Business Director General Industry Adhesive Technologies India.

Typical applications include submersible pump rotors, tube sheet resurfacing, condensers, cooling pump impellers, butterfly valves and cavitation pumps, line tanks and chutes, resurfacing  and repair of rudders and pintle housings, and line chemical containment areas. This Henkel product offers the market both persuasive technical benefits and improved cost efficiency, making it a highly viable solution for many a potential user.
