Henkel New Zealand supports “Relay for Life 2014”

Fundraising for cancer

For the third year in a row, a team of 30 former and existing employees, together with their families, participated in the “Relay for Life” event, raising a record amount of about $4500 for the Cancer Society.

Relay for Life is an inspiring overnight community event that gives everyone a chance to celebrate cancer survivors and caregivers, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and fight back by raising awareness and funds to support the work of the Cancer Society.

June Wright, Henkel Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Manager, explained that this year’s event had an even greater significance for the team as a former colleague passed away from cancer in January.

Unfortunately the Relay for Life overnight team event was cancelled because of a cyclone hitting Auckland, but this did not impact the Henkel team’s fundraising efforts. A number of events including raffle draws, a sausage sizzle and a successful quiz night were held, contributing to the team’s success in smashing its original goal of raising $3000.
