Cairo students get insights into Henkel Egypt

A professional for a day

Henkel Egypt organized a job-experience day for 10 students of the American University in Cairo labelled "A Professional For A Day". The aim of this event, which took place for the first time, was to show the participants a typical day at work and pass on expertise through hands-on training.

“How do functions interrelate?” – A question the students had to answer by connecting cards that display functions, adjectives and other keywords, thus creating a realistic storyboard of company processes and procedures.

Whether it is job fair visits, the international student competition “Henkel Innovation Challenge” or a university cooperation, Henkel runs different activities to strengthen the company’s profile as employer of first choice among young talents around the world. This is becoming particularly important in emerging markets, where Henkel aims to further strengthen its position. One of these young-talent-attracting activities recently took place in Egypt, where Henkel offered 10 students the possibility to gain valuable insights into selected functions and to learn more about career opportunities at the company.

The young talents learned about the tasks and responsibilities of employees working within Henkel’s Purchasing, IT, Finance and Corporate Communications teams. As the title of the event suggests, the students also had the possibility to actively participate in “real-life” meetings of different function sessions and were involved in a collective Finance and Purchasing case study, where they could enhance their negotiation skills. To put the newly required knowledge to the test, the students took part in two interactive group activities at the end of this productive, fun day.

This job-shadowing day not only gave Henkel the opportunity to get to know talented students but also was a chance to exchange insights and ideas – a win-win situation. By increasing their knowledge of Henkel’s functions, the students could also identify their own areas of interest: the best prerequisite to pursue the right career path.
