Formula E in Berlin
Motor racing and electromobility provide a better fit that one might first imagine. Formula E, the first racing championship for formula cars with an electric motor, is setting a new trend in motor sport, while also effectively highlighting the issue of sustainability in an emotionally charged public arena. Henkel is supporting the NEXTEV TCR team with its well-known drivers Nelson Piquet jr. and Charles Pic – which went into the first race under the name Team China Racing (TCR) – by providing a range of products required not only to build the racing car but also to ensure it can be quickly repaired as the need arises.
Saturday, May 23, 2015 sees the next Formula E race take place in Berlin on the site of the old Tempelhof airport. The NEXTEV TCR team is being supplied with Henkel’s Loctite and Teroson products so as to ensure that its electric cars produce the ultimate in high performance of which they are capable. “We are delighted to be working together with NEXTEV TCR Team and are privileged to be contributing our adhesives expertise as part of the collaboration,” says Uwe Philipps, Business Director for the Transport and Metal business of Henkel Adhesive Technologies. “The challenges facing the automobile industry with the advent of the electromobility megatrend are huge, and we are proud that, with our high-performance products – proven under the demanding conditions of motor racing – we are able to provide our partners with a key competitive edge.”
The NEXTEV TCR team has already managed to accumulate valuable points for the current season. The success of team driver Nelson Piquet jr. in winning the Long Beach race in the USA was followed by an excellent third place in the latest race held in Monte Carlo. On this racing weekend in Berlin he won the fastest lap and finished as the fourth driver across the finishing line. With that result Nelson Piquet Jr. is now in the lead of the Formel E championship. Now it’s fingers crossed for the last two races of the season!
