Henkel employees volunteer

Building a house for a good cause

Twenty volunteers, five days, one house: This year’s building site project has begun! From October 25 to October 31, a team of Henkel volunteers, together with “Habitat for Humanity” charity, will build a house divided into flats for families in need in Romania.

20 Henkel volunteers travelled to Romania

20 Henkel volunteers travelled to Romania on Sunday in order to build a house for families in need.

Last year, Henkel employees showed their social engagement as part of a building site project – within a week, they built a new house for a family in need in Romania. This year, a Henkel team will help again: on Sunday, the group travelled to the Romanian city of Ploiesti to tackle the project with energy. The aim of the voluntary project is to build a house divided into flats for eight families in need. Employees from all business units and in various positions are part of the group – and only a few have significant experience with the building of a house. However, there are also some “old hands” in the group who already helped in 2014 and will be able to give useful tips in addition to the tips from the professionals.

Henkel employees collected a large part of the resources needed for the international charity project themselves through fundraising activities. The Fritz Henkel Foundation, which was built in 2011, also provided some financial support. The foundation is closely linked to Henkel and underscores the company’s commitment to social project on top of its business activities.
