Collaboration with Habitat for Humanity in the Philippines

Henkel helps earthquake victims in Manila

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team from Henkel’s Shared Service Center (SSC) in Manila has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Habitat for Humanity Philippines, to pledge its assistance for community outreach projects over the next two years. The signing comes as a continuation of Henkel’s donation and volunteer assistance in 2014, through which the company contributed extensively towards the reconstruction of houses for victims of a 7.2 magnitude Bohol earthquake.

The SSC Manila CSR team organized two special events in September, ‘Zumba for a Cause’ and ‘Dress Down for a Cause’, to raise funds for the earthquake victims. Sixteen SSC Manila employees also travelled to Bohol to paint the six houses donated by Henkel last year. It was a full-day exercise that saw Henkel employees engage with the communities in a fun and fulfilling experience.

“We received a warm welcome from the beneficiary families and had a chance to talk and interact with them extensively,” said Geraldine Aro-Pinuela, Team Manager, Integrated Business Solutions, who also heads the SSC Manila CSR team. “They got a pleasant surprise when they saw their newly painted houses. The joy in their eyes was enough to wipe off the tiredness we experienced after a long day of hard labor.”
