New optical coating solutions combine sustainable credentials with premium performance

Henkel launches high‑performance anti‑fingerprint coatings for automotive displays formulated without PFAS or fluorine ingredients

As regulations on PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) tighten across Europe, the US and Asia, manufacturers are looking for non-fluorinated surface coating technologies that do not compromise on performance. Thus, Henkel has launched an anti‑fingerprint (AF) coating portfolio, comprising Loctite AF 8810 and Loctite AF 8812, innovatively formulated without PFAS or fluorine ingredients. Designed for automotive applications such as in-vehicle displays and touchscreens, these solutions enable manufacturers to meet growing demands for display performance, durability, cleanability and sustainability all at once.

In response to growing market demand, Henkel has expanded and optimized its paper coatings portfolio, offering solutions that deliver reliable barrier performance for primary and secondary packaging.

Recycling compatible paper coatings for food and non-food packaging

Henkel expands its barrier and heat seal coatings portfolio for paper applications

Paper-based packaging has become much more than just a matter of image, particularly in the food and e-commerce sectors. Brand owners and packaging manufacturers are switching to sustainable and, above all, recyclable solutions, driven by regulatory requirements such as the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). To support this transition while maintaining product integrity, process stability and efficiency, Henkel Adhesive Technologies is enhancing its paper coatings portfolio with water-based barrier and heat seal coatings. The solutions are designed to improve the functionality of paper-based packaging and strengthen ‘design for recycling’ approaches.

Enhanced silane modified polymer adhesive sealants can be used for many applications, including window glazing for cabins, side paneling and bonding of roof skin for vehicles, as well as seam and joint sealing.

New sustainable packaging concept in collaboration with thyssenkrupp Rasselstein and Pirlo enables CO2-reduction of 62 percent compared to conventional tinplate

Henkel launches new tinplate can packaging for adhesive solutions based on CO2-reduced steel

As a leading global manufacturer of adhesives, sealants and functional coatings, Henkel is consistently driving the sustainability of its product portfolio. To further reduce its own footprint, the company has now switched its tinplate cans in Europe to bluemint® steel across various categories for professional craftsmen and consumers. The new sustainable packaging concept is based on the close cooperation between Henkel's Adhesive Technologies business unit, the German tinplate manufacturer thyssenkrupp Rasselstein and Pirlo, an Austrian manufacturer of metal packaging. As a result, the switch to bluemint® steel-based packaging leads to a 62 percent reduction in CO2 emissions compared to conventional tin cans.

The personal care industry faces a balancing act: sustainability and transparent supply chains are becoming increasingly important, while expectations regarding process reliability, product quality and cost efficiency continue to rise.
