Graduate Development Program Brochure

Program in Africa/Middle East

Henkel offers graduates a variety of job opportunities – including international perspectives and job rotation.

Generally, you start your career at Henkel with direct employment – and this has many advantages:

  • Responsibility from day one
  • Comprehensive introductory training and coaching by your supervisor
  • Custom-made training and development program
  • Job rotation after six months during the first two years

Furthermore, Henkel offers different entry programs depending on the region:

  • 24-months finance traineeship in corporate internal audit in Germany
  • Talent onboarding program Beauty Care in Germany for a successful career in marketing and sales
  • Management traineeship in the Asia-Pacific region
  • Graduate Development Program in Africa/Middle East

In general, you change your position after two years at Henkel. In doing so, there are different opportunities:

  • You switch within your function and take on more responsibility
  • You move to another function, for example from marketing to purchasing
  • You move to another business unit, for example from Adhesive Technologies to Laundry & Home Care.

Impressive: Your first weeks at Henkel

Your first working day generally starts a few weeks after your application. During the first weeks, you will get a lot of new impressions. But no reason to worry: We offer an information and orientation program to each new colleague – to welcome you in our team.

  • Already a few weeks before your first working day, you will receive an “Onboarding e-Book“ from us. This helps you to orient yourself quickly.
  • Your first day will start by getting to know your new colleagues. We will show you your working environment and support you with a few organizational things, followed by a lunch with your team.
  • During your first meeting with your supervisor, you will receive an orientation plan and further useful check lists, which will help you to better structure your first weeks.

From day one you will take on responsibility and work independently on your own projects. Especially in the beginning, you are obviously not left alone with this. Your colleagues will actively support you.

Performance-oriented: Your salary

No matter in which area: Compensation at Henkel is attractive, performance-oriented and can keep up with competition. This means that employees with outstanding achievements will be rewarded a variable bonus payment – already in the first year.

Additionally, you benefit from comprehensive social services, like our employee share program, pension as well as occupational disability insurance. Flexible employment opportunities such as home office, flextime and modern IT equipment are a given at Henkel.

Your career at Henkel

Get used to change: At Henkel, it is common to change your position every two to three years. Henkel puts great value on the continuous development of your skills and talent. Job-rotation and the accompanying change of position provide new impulses to you and Henkel. We offer a broad range of tools to support you with your personal development: Trainings, challenging projects and coaching by your supervisor are just a few examples.

Training and Development

Self-evident to Henkel employees: Striving for top performance

  • Every year, you pass our Talent Management Cycle: You receive transparent feedback from your supervisor. Together, you define a concrete development plan.
  • Our Henkel Global Academy offers hundreds of trainings – from soft skills to expert knowledge.
  • Our Triple Two philosophy ensures job-rotation – you work in at least two job roles in two different countries and in two business fields – to become a top executive.

Planned promotion

For young high potentials: Our International Development Center

Successful entry: Your performance is outstanding and you are ready to take on more responsibility? Then you are the right candidate for our International Development Center. Experienced Henkel managers and personnel professionals will give you comprehensive feedback demonstrating your current development. You will be supported in realizing your strengths and development areas. As a result of the Development Center, a systematic training and development plan will be issued – your career plan for your future.

Emerging Markets

In focus: Growth regions

You are interested in China, Eastern Europe, Africa/Middle East or Latin America? Excellent – because these emerging markets represent significant growth potential for Henkel. To capture these opportunities, we support you with targeted measures preparing you to work in and with emerging markets. Ultimately, as part of our global strategy, we want half of our total sales to be generated in emerging markets by 2016.

The good news: You don’t need to wait long until you can work at international level. Many of our entry level positions at our headquarters involve international tasks and responsibilities. It is not without reason that in Düsseldorf alone we employ people from more than 50 countries.

Managerial responsibility

Clearly defined: Our demands on our managers

It is important to us that all managers have a clear understanding of what managerial responsibility means and what Henkel expects. This is guaranteed by our leadership principles and our trainings for employees with personnel responsibility.

“To maintain Henkel’s competitive position in a challenging market, we need the right people in the right jobs with the right skills at the right time. Talent Management is a key success factor for Henkel.”

Kathrin Menges, Executive Vice President Human Resources and Infrastructure Services

Social Media News

Students from one of our key universities at #HenkelMexico, the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM), worked out an eCommerce model project for one of our top Beauty Care brands during their previous semester. The final presentation was held in December with excellent results! We are proud and impressed and it’s always a great pleasure to meet the young talents and learn about their new ideas! :-) #joinus #ecommerce #futurecolleauges
