Did you know that Henkel North America employs approximately 9,000 employees at nearly 70 sites across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico? Collectively, these sites manage three business units: Adhesive Technologies, Beauty Care and Laundry & Home Care.

Our #AViewFrom series will feature select locations, sharing information and facts about our sites across Henkel North America.

The Richmond facility is one several Henkel manufacturing sites that supports the Adhesive Technologies’ Transport & Metal business.

Henkel’s Richmond, MO site produces acoustic and structural adhesives for the automotive OEM (original equipment manufacturers) and recreational vehicle markets.

Home to over 300 employees, the 260,000+ square foot building includes four production areas: mixing, extrusion, molding, and secondary operations. Materials produced at the Richmond facility, include adhesives that provide structural reinforcement to vehicles, while sealing out water or noise and reducing vibration.

The facility was originally constructed by sealants manufacturer – Orbseal – which was founded in 1983. In 2004, Henkel acquired Orbseal and the Richmond site officially became part of Henkel. Currently, the Richmond site is the only Henkel-owned North American parts manufacturing location supplying the OEM automotive market.

“Automotive reliability requirements are among the most stringent of any industry, and there is no room for error,” explains Ryan Steinhaus, Director of Plant Operations. “Our products are found inside steel cavities and frames and, even though they aren’t visible on the outside of the car or in the cabin, rest assured they are making your driving experience more enjoyable.”
