Vernel and Silan bottle bodies receive the World Star Packaging Award 2024 for their innovative sleeve technology
The bottle bodies of our fabric finisher Vernel consist of 100 percent recycled plastic (PET) and are recyclable, even if the sleeve is not removed from the bottle. The reason lies in the EcoFloat technology, developed in close cooperation with CCL Label GmbH. If the empty bottle reaches the recycling facility, the material will be shredded and separates itself: the former bottle body sinks as heavy PET flakes to the bottom of the water-filled basin, while the shredded low density EcoFloat material of the sleeve will float to the surface of the water.
Continuous increase in the proportion of recyclate in our consumer goods packaging
In Europe, we have continuously increased the proportion of recyclate in our packaging for liquid detergents and in products from the Hair category – for example in well-known brands such as Persil, Weißer Riese, Spee and Gliss. The bottle bodies are recyclable and the proportion of post-consumer recyclate amounts to at least 50 percent. In North America, the recycled content in the bottle body for the liquid hand soap of the Dial brand has been increased to 100 percent.
New water-based acrylic adhesive improves recyclability of PET bottles
Our Aquence PS 3017 RE adhesive has been developed to support the recycling of PET bottles. While an energy-intensive high-temperature process was previously required to completely remove labels, the new adhesive offers optimum washability even at low temperatures. As a result, the labels can be easily removed from the bottles using less energy, which also increases the purity and value of the recycled PET. The water-based acrylic adhesive is also used for packaging in our Consumer Brands business unit, such as our Pril brand.
