In the Automotive and Metals business area, we provide our international customers in the automotive and metal processing industries with tailor-made high-impact solutions, a comprehensive technology portfolio, and specialized technical services. We create competitive advantage for our customers along the entire value chain of car manufacturing, enabling them to answer the trends of e-Mobility, Autonomous Driving and Lightweighting. We supply performance-driven high-impact solutions across the entire metals value chain, from metal coil and metal processing to finished metal products including metal packaging.
Packaging and Consumer Goods
In the Packaging and Consumer Goods business area we are leading in developing innovative solutions which address global consumer trends like the growing demand for more sustainable practices. We are at the forefront of promoting a circular economy with our high-impact solutions for packaged food and beverages, diapers and hygiene products, plasters and bandages, clothes and shoes, furniture and much more – all created with consumers in mind.
Electronics and Industrials
In the Electronics and Industrials business area we offer our customers a specialized portfolio of high-impact engineering solutions for electronic and industrial key accounts. We are worldwide leading with a broad product portfolio and specialized technical and R&D expertise, helping our customers innovate and realize new and innovative designs. Leveraging our global presence, we enable some of the world’s most recognizable brands and products with our bonding, connecting, sealing, coating, protection and thermal management solutions.
Craftsmen, Construction and Professional
In the Craftsmen, Construction and Professional business area we market an extensive range of brand-name products for private consumers, do-it-yourselfers, craftsmen and trade as well as for maintenance and manufacturing professionals from more than 800 different industries. We serve our customers with adhesives and sealants for use in and around the house, building materials and sealing solutions for tiles, windows, facades, basements, roofs and floors and a comprehensive portfolio of high-impact solutions for the assembly and maintenance of machines.
Facts and Figures
Henkel’s involvement in the adhesives industry was a coincidence which turned out to be a great fortune: It was in 1923 when the labeling of some of its own consumer products was threatened due to an interruption in the supply of glue. Since then, Henkel has been involved in the production of its own adhesives for a wide variety of products and industries. Today, Henkel Adhesive Technologies is a leading solution provider for adhesives, sealants and functional coatings worldwide.
In 2021, the business unit generated sales of 9,641 million euros, 48 percent of total company sales. As a market leader, the Adhesive Technologies business unit creates high-impact solutions worldwide through groundbreaking innovations and close partnerships with its customers. The business areas for industrial customers are: Packaging and Consumer Goods Adhesives; Transport and Metal; General Industry; and Electronics. Our Adhesives for Consumers, Craftsmen and Building business area markets an extensive range of brand-name products for private, trade and construction users. In 2021, we generated around 30 percent of our sales with products launched onto the market in the last five years.

Henkel lands second industry award for high thermal conductivity gel TIM
Henkel today announced that its Bergquist Liqui Form TLF 10000 gel thermal interface material (TIM) has earned a prestigious NPI Award from Circuits Assembly magazine. The trophy was presented to the electronic materials leader during last week’s IPC APEX EXPO event in San Diego, CA, and marks the second notable industry honor for the groundbreaking thermal gel. Henkel’s 10.0 W/m-K TIM was also selected as a Global Technology Award winner by Global SMT & Packaging last year.
With the foundation of the joint venture Cofinity-X, ten partners of the automotive industry will further foster the adoption of the Catena-X network
- BASF, BMW Group, Henkel, Mercedes-Benz, SAP, Schaeffler, Siemens, T-Systems, Volkswagen and ZF jointly founded Cofinity-X to accelerate the operation and adoption of Catena-X use-cases throughout the automotive industry.
- Cofinity-X aims to operate an open marketplace for applications and provide products and services to enable the efficient and secure exchange of data between all participants of the ecosystem initially focusing on the European market.
- Cofinity-X will help to make important progress with the operationalization and build-up of end-to-end data-chains to trace material flows throughout the entire value chain.
- Basis for the operation will be the trusted Catena-X and Gaia-X principles ensuring full data sovereignty for data sharing parties in an open, trusted, collaborative, and secure environment.
Henkel highlights pad printing and antenna technologies at LOPEC 2023
During the upcoming LOPEC trade show on March 1 and 2 in Munich Henkel will display its range of functional material innovations for printed electronics together with its broad ecosystem of partners. In addition to its solution portfolio for smart surfaces and digital healthcare, the company will focus on novel pad printing solutions for antenna applications. At booth 508 in hall B0, Henkel will also offer dedicated focus hours on a variety of different topics to demonstrate the potentials of printed electronics solutions and applications.
