This role offers 8-hour shifts with the potential for overtime, as needed. The individual selected for this role will be assigned to 3rd Shift (Monday through Friday from 11PM - 7AM CST).

The Quality Specialist is responsible for testing chemical and physical properties of materials to determine conformance to standards and specifications. This role reports directly to the Quality Manager.

What you´ll do

  • Complies with all Safety, Health, and Environmental rules, procedures, and regulations.
  • Conducts all laboratory work in a safe manner, including the use of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), adherence to the site safety practices, use of lab equipment, 5S, etc.
  • Perform all work in strict adherence to QC standard laboratory procedures (SLPs). 
  • Inspection and testing of incoming raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished goods according to defined instructions, procedures, and methods. 
  • Executes lab testing and generates test data, documentation, and lab reports. 
  • Communicates basic observations regarding data and/or experimental outcomes. 
  • Provides support for projects assigned by Supervisors.
  • Assists in maintaining project timelines.
  • Employs basic problem-solving skills to overcome production and laboratory bottlenecks.
  • Take on equipment ownership and responsibility for maintaining safe operation of the assigned equipment. 
  • Reporting of lab results and methods according to accepted company lab practices.
  •  Communicate results, reports, and observations to internal/external stakeholders.
  • Records data per lab documentation and computer databases, such as SAP.
  • Maintains lab equipment in proper working order and performs verifications.
  • Participate in measuring system analysis testing.
  • Participate in customer and regulatory audits, as required.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Understanding of mathematical and statistical techniques relevant to adhesive product testing.
  • Acts as a mentor to other quality colleagues and teaches best practices.
  • Shows leadership & drive via participation in cross-functional teams.
  • Participates in the training of new employees.
  • Function as a subject-matter expert for the QC department.
  • Be sufficiently cross trained in all areas of the lab.

Education & Professional Requirements 

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience in a chemical laboratory is preferred.
  • Must have a strong commitment to safety, with demonstrated investment in safety improvement activities.
  • Must be familiar with analytical equipment, wet chemistry techniques, and/or mechanical testing apparatuses.
  • Must be able to work with and around hazardous materials, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel tabling and charting, and SAP.
  •  Other database experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to pivot and adapt to changing priorities in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Must have good time-management and organizational skills.
  • Must have a strong attention to detail.
  • Must have good problem-solving skills.
  • Must have solid interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work as a team member and independently on multi-task assignments.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, and can drive projects to desired results.
  • Must be an effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to adapt your communication style to different audiences, including active listening, clear presentation skills, and the capacity to provide and receive feedback at all levels of the organization.
  • Must have the ability to work on the requested shift.
  •  Training rotations may occur on a different shift than the application states and can take 2-3 months to complete.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to frequently sit, view a computer screen, and type on a keyboard for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to stand continuously and walk frequently during the shift.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance, 100 pounds with assistance, and push/pull up to 600 pounds with mechanical assistance.
  • Must have dexterity in the hands for tool manipulation.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. Corrective lenses are adequate for the job requirements.

The salary range for this role is $50,000 - $60,000.00. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
