This role offers 12-hour shifts with the potential for overtime, as needed. The individual selected for this role will be assigned to Shift 25 (Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Alternating Wednesdays from 6:45AM - 7PM MST).

The Lead Production Technician is responsible for coordinating workflow and executing the planned maintenance schedule for a production area within the manufacturing department to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly goals, all while ensuring safety, quality, and productivity. This role will also coordinate with other departments, as needed, to maintain a smooth workflow.

What you´ll do

  • Ensures production schedule is met by monitoring line performance, identifying and resolving issues, and allocating resources accordingly.
  • Completes all training and certification requirements to safely and effectively rotate to and operate all production equipment and machinery in assigned area.
  • Cross trains on equipment and tasks across multiple areas and rotates, as needed.
    • Performs machine start-up and shut-down procedures on production equipment and ensures that machines are set-up to validated Machine Parameter Settings (MPS).
    • Monitors operating equipment and machinery to ensure proper performance.
    • Adjust equipment parameters, within validated standards, to ensure output meets specifications. If output specifications are not met, escalate issues to proper site resources for resolution.
  • Coordinates and provides training for others on how to operate production equipment and machinery.
  • Completes basic maintenance and troubleshooting tasks, such as cleaning, inspection, minor lubrication, and parts replacements.
    • Escalates non-routine and complex issues following the downtime escalation procedures.
    • Observes and supports mechanics to complete diagnostics and repairs.
  • Provides directions for cleaning and sanitizing tasks.
  • Performs required steps to guarantee size and product changeovers are completed in accordance with the production schedule for all equipment.
    • Utilizes Gantt chart and other resources to plan activities, assign timelines, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Logs data into computerized production tracking system including identified machine parameters, downtime events, and line performance.
    • Validates data integrity by auditing line reports, quality documents, changeover checklist, housekeeping checklist, sanitization records, and responds as necessary.
  • Always ensures compliance with quality standards and requirements.
    • Complete all required quality checks in a timely manner.
    • Inspects output to ensure compliance with quality standards, which may include the use of calibrated equipment, tools, and machines.
    • Accurately maintains all required quality documentation.
    • Identifies, contains, and follows the process to escalate non-conforming finished goods or packaging components.
  • Mentor operators and production staff on how to correctly troubleshoot tasks such as cleaning, inspection, minor lubrication and parts replacements. 
  • Escalate non-routine and complex issues following the facility escalation procedure.

Education & Professional Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience operating equipment in a production environment.
  • Must have at least 1 year of manufacturing experience.
  • Must have at least 6 months to 1 year of Lead experience.
  • Must have intermediate to proficient troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have knowledge of basic Lean principles such as 5S, TPM, and Root-Cause Analysis is highly desired.
  • Must have basic to intermediate computer and math skills.
  • Experience with SAP is a plus.
  • Must adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to pivot and adapt to changing priorities in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Must be well organized with a high attention for detail.
  • Must have good problem-solving and time-management skills.
  • Must have solid interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to learn quickly.
  • Must have the ability to speak, read, and write in English to communicate and interact effectively with associates at all levels.
  • Must be an effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to adapt your communication style to different audiences, including activities for active listening, clear presentation skills, and the capacity to provide and receive feedback at all levels of the organization.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand continuously and walk frequently during the shift.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance, 100 pounds with assistance, and push/pull up to 600 pounds with mechanical assistance.
  • Must have dexterity in the hands for tool manipulation.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. Corrective lenses are adequate for the job requirements.

There is a $1,000 SIGN-ON BONUS for this role. The hourly range for this role is $25.89 - $31.65, depending on experience. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range. This range may also be modified in the future.
