The individual selected for this role will be assigned to a Monday - Friday shift, from 6:30AM - 4PM MST. The role has 24-hour operations oversight, with the ability to flex onto off-shift, as needed.

The Salt Lake City, UT Henkel manufacturing facility is looking for top talent to lead our facility to Best in Class performance levels and culture. The Area Manager is responsible for managing all operations in the single-dose department. This person will identify and implement cost-saving programs within the department and provide technical support for all other manufacturing areas, as well as in the new expansions to the site.

What you´ll do

  • Supervise and delegate daily activities of the department to maintain production requirements.
  • Designs and implements the best processes to align with the strategy.
  • Defines, along with Plant Management, the glidepath to improve the plant KPIs.
  • Cascades and executes the Plant Strategy.
  • Make sure all quality standards and specifications applicable to the production area are met.
  • Interfaces with the Production Master Schedule department to ensure maximum efficiency standards.
  • Supervise and maintain all equipment in the department, as well as the upkeep of records/documentation for all areas of compliance with city/state and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Attend inter-departmental meetings and work with co-managers on various issues as they arise.
  • Maintain and lead good continuous improvement strategies that harmonize with other parts of the site.
  • Evaluate, propose, and help upgrade processes and equipment to maximize efficiency.
  • Coach and counsel employees, when necessary, to aid in employee development and to enforce all company policies and procedures.
  •  Reviews the Shift Lead's tasks and assignments.
  • Audits the Shift Lead's standard work sheets and reviews the team's questions and ideas.
  • Provide training and a safe environment for employees to perform the production-related duties in an effective and safe manner.
  •  Identifies and executes training plans for team members.
  •  Performs structured Muda walks with line leaders.
  • Owns and executes the daily team meetings and escalates information to the Plant Daily Operational Review.
  • Perform other related managerial duties, as determined by the Plant Manager.
  • Identify cost-saving areas, suggest and implement programs to make practical gains to benefit the company's profitability.
  • Owns the improvement plans to drive the KPIs towards the objectives.
  • Reviews performance indicators (KPIs) and daily, weekly, and monthly trends.
  • Provide technical help and support other areas of the plant, when necessary.
  • Prepare departmental budgets and control them to run efficiently.
  • Explore and research new technological advances to aid and support the company's competitive edge.
  •  Attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Act professionally when dealing with co-managers, vendors, and customers, in the best interest of the company.
  •  Must have communication skills to include reading and writing, as well as the ability to communicate with others and receive communication from others, for safety and business purposes.

Education & Professional Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical-related field is preferred.
  • Must have at least 5 years of team leadership experience.
  • Must have at least 2 years of prior maintenance supervisory experience.
  • Must have at least 5 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Must have a highly developed understanding of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, as well as TPM methodologies and implementation.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to present proposals and projects to all levels of management.
  • Must have experience with Maintenance programs (such as TBM and Predictive).
  • Must have excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations is required.
  • Must have proficient-level to advanced-level computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Must have advanced-level math skills.
  • Must be meticulous in monitoring processes and maintaining accurate records.
  • Must have a strong commitment to safety, with demonstrated investment in safety improvement activities.
  • Must be able to follow all safety rules and PPE guidelines.
  • Must be able to work with and around hazardous materials, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Experience with SAP is a plus.
  • Must be able to pivot and adapt to changing priorities in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Must be well organized with a high attention for detail to be able to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and resources efficiently.
  • Must have good problem-solving and time-management skills.
  • Must have solid interpersonal skills.
  • Must be an effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to adapt your communication style to different audiences, including activities for active listening, clear presentation skills, and the capacity to provide and receive feedback at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand continuously and walk frequently during the shift.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance, 100 pounds with assistance, and push/pull up to 600 pounds with mechanical assistance.
  • Must have dexterity in the hands for tool manipulation.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. Corrective lenses are adequate for the job requirements.

There is a $1,000 SIGN-ON BONUS. The salary range for this role is $94,800.00- $180,300.00. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range.  This salary range may also be modified in the future.
