This role offers 12-hour shifts with the potential for overtime, as needed. The individual selected for this role will be assigned to Shift 3 (Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Alternating Sundays from 6:45PM to 7AM).

If you have a passion for quality, testing, and analyzing in a positive manufacturing work environment, then Henkel has the job for you! The Quality Laboratory Technician provides testing and other quality-related services to internal customers and ultimately assures product quality, integrity, and safety to the consumer under the direction of the QA Team Manager and QA management.

What you´ll do

  • Collect and perform analytical testing on finished products and check finished products for any defects incurred during the packaging process.
  • Collect and perform analytical testing on all in-process product.
  • Perform analytical tests on incoming raw materials prior to use in the process.
  • Perform microbiological testing on liquid-finished products and manufacturing equipment.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, according to established procedures.
  • Communicate, retest, release, reject, investigate, and/or escalate, as necessary, during off-quality situations. 
  • Block/release materials in the system and enter hold data into SAP, or other tracking files. 
  • Enter quality test results, scan paperwork into SAP, and monitor SAP for completion of inspections. 
  • File quality documents and input and save quality data in the appropriate locations.
  • Provide support to blending department to adjust out of spec product parameters.
  • Approve bottle color changes. Match/verify plastic component colors, as needed. 
  • Aid manufacturing personnel and/or process engineers during test runs and other production projects.
  • Collect, label, and store retain samples according to established procedures.
  • Keep quality work areas clean and organized.
  • Assist with training of associates in areas of expertise. 
  • All other duties, as assigned.

Education & Professional Requirements

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • College coursework in chemistry or post-secondary degree is preferred.
  • Must have at least 6 months to 1 year of Quality experience.
  • SAP experience, relevant ISO standards, and/or auditing is preferred.
  • Must work with local management team to drive and improve quality, environmental, safety, and energy results across the site within the area of responsibility and where required to meet ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and 50001 standards.
  • Must perform lab tests in a timely manner and deliver concise results with good integrity.
  • Must have a willingness and capability to solve problems within the lab and cross-functionally.
  • Must be well-organized, thorough with all lab details and follow through with procedures, as needed.
  • Must be in quality lab by start of shift and fully participate in shift hand-off activities, including updates to escalations and action items.
  • Must continuously follow all safety policies and procedures on the job, with a strong commitment to safety with investment in safety improvement activities.
  • Must be able to work with and around hazardous materials, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Must complete weekly Safety Chatters and monthly Compliance Trainings.
  • Must learn and adapt to Henkel processes and procedures.
  • Must maintain an awareness of and use Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Must have basic-level to intermediate-level computer (Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook) experience.
  • Must have proficient-level math experience, with the ability to do math computations and calculations.
  • Must be able to pivot and adapt to changing priorities in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Must be an effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to adapt your communication style to different audiences, including active listening, clear presentation skills, and the capacity to provide and receive feedback at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand continuously and walk frequently during the shift.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance, 100 pounds with assistance, and push/pull up to 60 pounds with mechanical assistance.
  • Must have dexterity in the hands for tool manipulation.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. Corrective lenses are adequate for the job requirements.

There is a $1,000 SIGN-ON BONUS for this role. The hourly range for this role is $19.24 - $23.52. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range.  This salary range may also be modified in the future.
