What you´ll do

CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY: The technician at this level of responsibility will include the following: 

  • Know and demonstrate proper procedures for confined space entry, hazardous chemical handling, lock out / tag out, proper personnel protective equipment and its limitations including proper documentation for these activities.
  • Know and apply learning’s from MSDSs, OSHA and DOT training 
  • Wear all the relevant personnel protective equipment required for each material. 
  • Perform safety, quality and environmental inspections of hoses, piping, PPE, equipment guarding, railcars and trucks and all related equipment and processes and complete documentation as required 
  • Maintain housekeeping of Sulfonation loading and unloading areas including rail sidings and truck delivery/loading areas and spill containment dikes
  • Ensure final product quality meets specifications prior to shipping and keep appropriate retain samples. 
  • Ensure raw materials meet specifications prior to unloading, collect and bring samples and COAs to the lab for analysis. and keep appropriate retain samples. 
  • Enter daily department production, shipping and raw material data into the computerized systems and be able to print relevant reports for use by department personnel.
  • Coordinate daily activities related to shipping products and receiving of raw materials which include scheduling customer orders and raw material deliveries, arranging transportation with common carriers, updating activity records, conducting inventories and cycle counts, processing orders and preparing Bills of Lading in accordance with DOT shipping instructions.
  • Modify receipt and shipping schedules based on business requirements. 
  • Load and unload trucks and railcars with products and raw materials, some of which are hazardous chemicals.
  • Maintain all shipping records and computer related shipping files and complete all relevant receiving paperwork immediately after each delivery.
  • Direct the switching and spotting of rail cars including preparation of switch list and communication of said list to railroad.
  • Safely operate the Track mobile to move railcars to the appropriate rail locations to support business needs (training required) 
  • Communicate raw material delivery and product shipping schedules to department personnel as well as any potential raw material delivery and finished product shipment problems, or projected material inventory shortage problems immediately to the

What makes you a good fit

  • Must achieve acceptable scores on Validated Assessment Tests Must be able to pass fork truck certification test.
  • Hazmat certification required (training provided).
  • Must have good mathematical skills, up to, and including proportions, calculating volumes, conversion of pounds to gallons (and vice versa), gallons to cubic feet (and vice versa), as well as basic arithmetic.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervision, and personnel external to the plant.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator and other PPE as required. Must have or be able to obtain computer skills necessary to perform the job duties.
  • This position will assist in filling staffing gaps in accordance with Henkel Social Standard Policy.
  • Basic knowledge of computer skills. Microsoft Office, Outlook and Excel. 

The salary for this role is $34.79. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range.  This salary range may also be modified in the future.
