Interview with Yiran
Being an intern at Henkel, what do you like most about it?
As an intern at Henkel, I am respected as the part of the teams from the beginning. My mentor always encourages me to think independently and to find my own approaches to the problems. Taking the ownership in projects drives my working motivation to deliver the best results as much as I can. Besides, I like the supportive team atmosphere where everyone will give me a hand at any time when I confront some problems.
What is the greatest learning you will take home after your internship at Henkel?
My greatest learning is to apply critical thinking to the daily work. I found asking myself more ‘why’ is quite important to becoming a good purchaser. This can help me to challenge the existing information, dig deep the real problems/reasons behind and may also lead to new and creative solutions.
Do you consider Henkel as a future employer and why?
Yes! I like the international working atmosphere that Henkel provides. I can meet people from different backgrounds and intensively engage with other colleagues around the world. I am also very international-minded, so I think the company culture will be a good fit for me. Besides, from integrating sustainability into products to CSR events including waterway cleaning in Singapore, I am very inspired by Henkel’s efforts for sustainability.
What is the biggest fun factor while working at Henkel?
Biggest fun factor can be various social events organized in Henkel. I really enjoy spending these leisure time with my colleagues. This helps me to be integrated into the team better and more quickly and also provide me opportunities to socialize with colleagues from different business units.
What is unique about working at Henkel?
I think high flexibility and autonomy is quite unique in the working culture of Henkel. It does not matter where we do our job; what really matters is the quality of the work. We can choose home office sometimes; we can find a quiet room to enjoy our working time alone if we need to concentrate on something. I feel more productive since I can adapt my own working style to this flexible working culture.
Describe Henkel in three words
